Dr. RACHEL ZEGARRA: AMBASSADOR OF THE HEREDIAN SPIRIT IN CANADA AND MEMBER OF THE ORDER OF CANADA

The Governor General of Canada has distinguished Dr. Raquel Zegarra del Carpio-O’Donovan, a graduate of Cayetano Heredia, with the appointment as a Member of the Order of Canada, one of Canada’s highest honors.

Dr. Raquel Zegarra, a graduate of the X Class of the «Susy Roedenbeck » School of Medicine, has been honored with this prestigious recognition by Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, adding to the extensive list of outstanding achievements and services she has provided to the Canadian nation.

As a neuroradiologist, Dr. Raquel Zegarra plays a crucial role as Professor of Radiology at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and as head of the Neuroradiology Service at the Montreal University Hospital. Her dedication and leadership have led her to be recognized as one of the «Ten most influential Hispanic people in Canada.»

This appointment as a Member of the Order of Canada highlights her exemplary leadership and role as a mentor to a generation of radiologists worldwide. Dr. Zegarra has contributed significantly to developing of skills and work practices in emerging countries, becoming an influential figure in her field.

In the words of Dr. Raquel Zegarra: « All of this helps me to continue in my chosen career, where my first example and inspiration was my father, always the great love of my mother and the loyalty and camaraderie of my siblings.
