FORBES: DR. MAGALY BLAS IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE 50 MOST POWERFUL WOMEN IN PERU.

Dr. Magaly Blas is founder of the ‘Mamás del Río’ program.

For the second consecutive year, a Cayetano Heredia professor and researcher is considered one of the 50 most powerful women in Peru by Forbes magazine. We refer to Dr. Magaly Blas, who is the only physician and scientist to appear on the list of the renowned magazine.

The expert in public health and epidemiology is the director and founder of the ‘Mamás del Río’ program, which seeks, through community empowerment and the use of technology, to improve the care practices of pregnant women and newborns in rural and remote areas of the Peruvian and Colombian Amazon. “Last July, the doctor presented the program to the World Health Organization, along with other cases of social innovation from different continents,” Forbes said of our researcher.

It should be noted that Dr. Magaly Blas is a graduate of our professional career in medicine and currently works as a teacher and researcher at the Faculty of Public Health and Administration.

With regard to this recognition, Dr. Blas pointed out: “I thank Forbes for including me in their list of the 50 most powerful women in Peru. The recognition as director of ‘Mamás del Río’ is, in reality, a tribute to the invaluable team that makes it possible: Our community agents, midwives and medical staff in the most remote areas of the Amazon, and to the excellent work of our research and innovation team”. At Cayetano Heredia we congratulate Dr.Magaly Blas for this new recognition, which only enhances her legacy and the name of the university.
