DR. FABIOLA LEÓN-VELARDE AND DR. THERESA OCHOA – TWO OF THE 100 EXTRAORDINARY STORIES OF PERUVIANS WHO MAKE THEIR HOMELAND

The play was presented on Wednesday, December 13, at the Gran Teatro Nacional. Our researchers and other renowned artists, athletes, and businesspeople attended it, whose stories were also considered by Yrivarren. “Peru has extraordinary people who are betting on the country and will continue to bet on it. Moreover, that is why we came up with the idea of writing this book, promoting the good side, the kind side that Peru has, and telling these stories, showing that, in the face of shortages and adversities, we have them”, said the author.
Thanks to their success stories and contribution to the country in the field of science, our researchers, Dr. Fabiola León-Velarde and Dr. Theresa Ochoa, were featured in the book “Tengo el orgullo: Cien historias extraordinarias de peruanos que hacen patria” (“I have the pride: One hundred extraordinary stories of Peruvians who work for their homeland”), written by Ingrid Yrivarren.

The writer added that the book is accompanied by a traveling exhibition, which will tour different districts. It will be inaugurated this Friday, December 15 at noon in the Santa Rosa passage, in Lima’s Plaza de Armas.

Dr. Fabiola León-Velarde is a former rector of our university, former president of Concytec and is currently director of the Victor Alzamora Castro Graduate School. On her part, Dr. Theresa Ochoa is director of the Alexander Von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine, head of the Laboratory of Pediatric Infectious Diseases (LIP) and member of the Laboratory of Enteric Diseases, Nutrition and Antimicrobial Resistance (LEEN-RA).
